Swedish Massage
The term Swedish Massage refers to a variety of techniques
specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to
them against deeper muscles. The main purpose of Swedish
Massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and to release
toxins from the muscles. It can also shorten recovery time
from muscle strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric
acid and other metabolic wastes. It also stimulates the skin
and nervous system and can help reduce stress, both emotional and
physical.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
This technique uses light massage which affects the surface
lymphatics. The lymph system helps keep the body healthy by
collecting excess tissue fluid, invading microorganisms, damaged
cells, and protein molecules that are too large or toxic to return
to the blood system. The lymph system filters out the waste
and returns nutritive materials back to the cells and blood
system. Unlike the blood circulatory system which has the heart
serving as a pump, the lymph system has to pump to move the fluid
throughout the body. Only external forces such as exercise,
movement, and massage force the lymphatic fluid through the body.
This is one reason why individuals who are inactive (such as the
terminally ill, invalids, or those who are bedridden, etc) are
more easily overcome by viral and bacterial infections.
While lack of activity keeps the lymphatic system from operating
at optimal levels, massage can greatly assist in maintaining
overall health or to keep from regressing further
Hot Rock Massage
The healing power of warmed stones has been recognized by
numerous cultures for centuries. The deep heat of the basalt
stones penetrates the muscles, providing an immediate
relaxation. Smooth not stones are placed on the clients
body(which is covered with a towel or sheet to protect from the
heat). The massage therapist may also use the stones to perforn
soothing long massage strokes. Hot stone massage is very
effective in creating harmony, a postive energy flow, and
promotes a sense of balance and peace.
Chair Massage
Chair massage is a very popular mode of massage therapy. Thats
because it doesn't take a lot of time and is done while fully
clothed
The seated massage increases circulation and stimulates the
muscles, thereby releasing tension in the back and shoulders.
A brisk 15 minutes seated massage will revitalize the recipient
and contributes to overall well-being.
